I know that sounds so cliché – step-by-step! But I don’t think we realise how true this concept is when it gets to our health.
Our health is an accumulation of steps.
Each step we take in the right direction adds up to getting us where we want to be. Where do you want to be? Do you want to be healthy, fit, skinny, have toned muscles – be honest with yourself. What do you really want? And don’t think about what is possible or start with excuses – just start with setting your goals. What do you want?
And the next more difficult step is to assess where you are currently, don’t pull your stomach in while trying to decide if you like what you see. NO JUDGEMENT. Just tell yourself honestly where you are. You are not alone – nobody is where they want to be. We are going to stop being hard on ourselves. Just be honest.
You won’t believe me, but you have now actually done the hardest part. Now we can just start walking in the right direction. STEP-BY-STEP. And this is not a race. We are not going to reach our goals in days, weeks or even months. This is a lifestyle – we are going to keep going in that direction for the rest of our lives.
So start small, with something like cutting back on sugar or taking daily walks. Keep it light and easy to do. And know that each step will add up. And sometimes we fail and take a few steps back – and that is OK. This is not a short cut, this is something that can save your life.
